Job Summary\:

Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses serves as the central unit responsible for promoting and facilitating education abroad at Temple University. Education Abroad administers academic year, semester, and summer study abroad programs hosted by Temple’s overseas campuses in Italy and Japan; offered through exchange and other institutional partners around the globe and developed and led by Temple faculty members. Enrolling and serving an average of 1200 Temple and non-Temple students a year, the Education Abroad team is committed to providing transformative global learning experiences that prepare the diverse students from Temple and our U.S. partner institutions to develop as engaged global citizens, collective problem-solvers, and leaders in their chosen field.

The Institutional Relations Manager (IRM) is responsible for developing and managing relationships with external (non-Temple) colleges and universities who send students to Temple University Rome, Temple University Japan, Temple University in Spain, and our other study abroad programs. The IRM will attend study abroad fairs across the U.S. and meet with administrators, faculty, and students to promote Temple’s study abroad opportunities. They will develop, track, and follow up with student inquiries and associated contacts, host information sessions for students and faculty/staff, and communicate with partners and students through the application process. The incumbent will achieve targets for external student participation.

The IRM role requires a highly motivated, well-organized self-starter who enjoys working independently as well as collaboratively with a team, while supporting leadership’s goals for Temple Education Abroad.  Must be able to represent the university and Education Abroad’s commitment to academic excellence professionally, credibly and authoritatively to university-level administrators and faculty. The ideal candidate would have a strong understanding of study abroad programs and higher education.

The role includes approximately 50-60% travel, based on seasonable business needs. Remote candidates are welcome to apply. The IRM reports to the Assistant Director of Institutional Relations and serves as a key member of the marketing and outreach team in Education Abroad & Overseas Campuses.

Education Abroad fosters an inclusive work environment and is committed to increasing diversity and enhancing inclusion practices in study abroad. Each team member plays a role in helping to foster that mission. We are especially interested in candidates who have an interest in promoting and encouraging diversity and inclusion in educational environments, e.g. socio-economic diversity tied to education (first generation or high financial need), racial or ethnic diversity, national origin and immigrant rights, LGBTQIA initiatives, and/or disability rights advocacy. We seek a diverse pool of applicants and encourage those from historically marginalized populations to apply.

A bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years’ experience in university study abroad or international education. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Preferred\:

Master’s degree. International experience, living or studying abroad.

Required Skills & Abilities\:

Demonstrated understanding of higher education and the education abroad field. Experience with recruitment and/or partnership management. Demonstrated professionalism, ability to work independently and to manage project timelines. Highly motivated and self-directed. Strong organizational skills and leadership skills. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Suite. Commitment to student service and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents. Experience with databases/CRM and/or Terra Dotta. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel domestically (including driving as required) for several weeks of the semester. Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends as required.
