Introduction to the Role

This position is responsible for the day-to-day advisory support and performance of Global Field Service (GFS) grinding equipment/mills installation and commissioning. The functionality of this position is keenly focused on safety, customer service and customer satisfaction.

Job scope includes, but is not necessarily limited to, field service activities such as technical troubleshooting analysis and recommending solutions, inspection/service reports, maintenance, training, and start up procedure(s)/commissioning advisory services.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Communicates and interacts with all levels of organization staff and management, internally and externally. Work at remote customer sites around the world for extended periods of time. Perform pre-installation audits to determine site conditions, customer preparedness, project inventory, and overall project installation logistics. Willingly engages field service problem solving opportunities with a quick, first responder, take ownership kind of approach, seeing it through to resolution. Completes & submits, in accordance with Metso reporting and billing rules and processes, any recommendations, evaluations, expense reports, action reports, monthly work logs, etc. Provides field and classroom-based service-maintenance-commissioning training for customers / end user operations / maintenances personnel. Understands safety requirements, including “Lock Out/Tag Out” procedures on site locations, always complying with Metso HSE and site safety rules and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

 

Travel

Up to 90% may be required for this position.

 

Key Competencies for Success

Education/Training:

Associates degree in engineering or high school diploma with equivalent related experience. Millwright certification and/or hydraulics certifications are desirable.

 

Experience:

Experience in grinding equipment, mills, and related industrial equipment technical support and service is preferred. Supervisory experience is beneficial. Electrical knowledge related to mechanical applications is an advantage.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to effectively advise customers, engineering firm(s), and contractors user personnel under various working conditions and hours. Ability to interact, on a technical level, with Field Sales, Training, Application & Technical Support groups as well as Parts, Support & Engineering groups. Ability to solve problems and situations that may occur in the field during assembly, installation, maintenance and/or repair, with safety being of the utmost importance. Understanding of HSE, reporting and distribution of Policy and Procedures.
