Installation Engineer
Job Title: Installation Engineer
Job Description

This position involves building system projects for Paint/System dispensing. The role requires working both at the company's facility in Auburn Hills and traveling to various field locations for installation. The job primarily focuses on installing automated paint equipment at customer sites and integrating this equipment into the customers' processes. The individual will work independently and will require technical skills, product knowledge, and project management experience to start up automated systems that meet customer expectations and quality standards.

ResponsibilitiesInstall robots and peripheral equipment.Perform basic path teaching, modifying, and fine-tuning robot paths and programs.Integrate and interface supplied equipment into customers' processes.Conduct testing or functional verification of all major components.Troubleshoot and debug technical problems.Repair, rework, or retrofit product and equipment.Provide paint and/or sealant system-specific training to customer personnel.Communicate and interface directly with customers and engineering groups.Complete documentation and reports, including installation, FSRs, expense, and time reports.Maintain and return as-built documentation to engineering.Load and modify software as required.Procure supplies, tooling, and associated installation equipment.Essential Skills3 years of experience with automation equipment.3 years of experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.3 years of experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, and material handling.Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.Understanding and updating engineering documentation, prints, and schematics.Ability to decipher symbols and dimensions on drawings to address contractor or customer questions during installation.Ability to travel up to 80% domestically and internationally with a valid passport.Experience displaying high initiative and problem-solving skills.Outgoing personality and willingness to go above and beyond.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience working in a plant environment.Previous paint robot experience or installation of robotic equipment.Knowledge of wiring, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Ex-military experience is preferred.Work Environment

The work environment includes a team of 35 people comprised of Installation Engineers and Field Service Engineers. Work will be conducted both at the facility in Rochester Hills and onsite at client locations. The role requires travel around 80% of the time to install robots at customer sites. When traveling, work hours can be up to 50-60 hours per week, including weekends, while hours at the facility are typically 40-45 hours per week. Travel will mainly be within the U.S., with installations lasting from 1-2 weeks up to 2 months. The company strives to provide breaks for Installation Engineers to prevent burnout.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00
