Behind the Design is on the lookout for a solution-driven, confident Installation Pro for a family-owned interior design business!
Why Join the Team?
Over the last 18 years, this family-owned business’ demonstrated track record of success has led them to become a one-stop shop for bespoke solutions that range from indoor and outdoor shades to full-home window coverings. Join a dynamic team that values curiosity, problem-solving, and providing expert customer service.
What We Offer:
+ An intentional, charted plan for your growth as an employee with us other time.
+ Generous compensation at a growing, stable company: $19-32/hour, experience-dependent.
+ Retirement planning through an IRA with 2% match.
+ A monthly health plan stipend of $400 to go toward your plan(s) of choice.
+ 2 weeks of vacation in year one. 3 weeks of vacation in year 2. Four weeks of vacation in year 10 and beyond!
+ Work-life Balance: Work from 8-4 most days, with your last appointment scheduled around 3pm.
+ Occasional overtime available (about 5 hours per each larger project).
+ Uniform and company vehicle provided.
A High Level Snapshot of the Role:
You'll go onsite to install blinds, shades, shutters, drapery, and motorized shades for our clients. This is usually local travel within the Indianapolis region. You’ll work closely with the warehouse and operations team to ensure each order is prepped for install, and you’ll be involved in the project management process of each design/sale by viewing after the design team executes the sale and passing it along to design coordinators and operations pros.
A Day In the Life:
+ Arrive at 8am to get scheduled for the day at our Indianapolis warehouse.
+ Ensure your company-provided vehicle is prepped with all of the necessary materials for day’s appointments, which may be residential or at other businesses and may include installations or other service calls.
+ Embark on the day’s appointments, either with an additional team member or solo. Many appointments are about 60-90 minutes, whereas other longer installations will require more time.
+ Act as the face of our organization to each end user while onsite.
+ Measure each space and set expectations with clients initially and throughout each appointment where needed.
+ Communicate with design coordinators and operations where needed.
+ Actively problem solve on each install on your feet with confidence and proficiency.
+ Occasionally, we will have sales that take you on a longer drive, even out of state, for an install. (This typically happens once every 3-4 months.)
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for a problem-solver with a "figure-it-out" attitude—someone who takes ownership and isn’t afraid to dive in and find answers. While interior design industry experience isn’t required, you should have a strong sense of organization and be able to manage a variety of tasks efficiently.
Our Ideal Candidates Have:
+ The drive to become a specialist, with a knack for organization and an eye for detail.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
+ A lack of a fear of heights- you’ll be climbing ladders
+ A curious, confident, driven, and actionable mindset.
+ A mind that can wrap around technical aspects such as motorization with ease- or has previously dealt with it.
+ Comfortability driving to/attending onsite appointments in luxury home settings.
+ A solution-oriented mindset and takes ownership without a second thought.
+ Willingness to follow established procedures- or make recommendations for further efficiency!
+ Ability to work well within a dynamic team of life-long learners.
+ A Background in interior design or a similar industry. (We are focused on finding candidates who have dealt with this level of complexity before. Though window treatment experience would be stellar, we are open to training the right candidate.)
