Institutional Housestaff Coordinator
Description The Institutional Housestaff Coordinator serves as a vital liaison between housestaff, hospital administration, the School of Medicine, and external agencies. This role acts as both a resource and advocate for housestaff while also supporting staff, faculty, and program directors. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, drawing on experience and knowledge of the Medical Center and affiliated organizations. Additionally, the coordinator works closely with residency and fellowship program coordinators, overseeing HR functions related to housestaff. Key responsibilities include collaboration with GME stakeholders, including housestaff, program coordinators and directors, occupational health, facilities, and affiliate institution leadership. The role is also responsible for developing onboarding processes and implementing the resident union collective bargaining agreement, particularly regarding relocation reimbursements. Additionally, the coordinator oversees the Intern & Resident hospital budget in partnership with HS Finance, ensuring financial alignment and operational efficiency. _This is a rehire retiree recall limited appointment role at 43% FTE through 8/31/25._ Salary Range: $68,800 - $141,000 Annually Qualifications All Required: + Ability to interact diplomatically, constructively and effectively with house staff, their families, and all levels of employees both at UCLA and other institutions. + Ability to function at a high level of efficiency and effectiveness with attention to detail and with frequent interruptions. + Skills in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. + Ability to follow-through and work independently, ensuring the timely completion of assigned projects and tasks. + Ability to resolve problems in a calm and timely manner, with appropriate follow-up + Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and University financial systems + Detailed understanding of the UCLA insurance package offered to house staff as well as an understanding of insurance companies in general, including terminology, customary practices and procedures. + Detailed knowledge of the ACGME accreditation process and institutional requirements as they impact on the residency training programs. + Detailed knowledge of the medical licensing requirements and the California law regarding medical licensure and the training of international medical graduates in the state of California. + Demonstrated knowledge of PC operations, with proficiency in Microsoft products including Word 6.0 and Excel; ability to use Medical Board dial-up licensing program and NRMP software. + Demonstrated knowledge of hospital mainframe computer system. + Skill in public speaking with an emphasis on the ability to provide information to large groups of people and field questions. + Supervise and monitor work product of staff. + Knowledge of University and Medical Center policies and procedures, with emphasis on policies pertaining directly to house staff, such as due process, leave, infection control and others.
