The Department of Corrections is seeking an Institutional Parole Assistant to perform clerical duties and provide technical assistance at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections and the Pennsylvania Parole Board. This position is within the Department of Corrections.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will manage inmates in the parole release process, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and Pennsylvania Parole Board policies. Your duties will include interviewing inmates to assess their home plan requirements, monitoring drug screening results, evaluating home plan investigations, and tracking changes in status. In addition, you will prepare release orders, letters, memos, and status reports and run criminal histories for any needed cases on the monthly docket. You will also offer comprehensive clerical support, including typing memos, letters, forms, and other documents. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing incoming mail, including date-stamping, sorting, and distributing inmate request slips, as well as preparing outgoing mail.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Four years of experience as a Clerical Assistant 2 in the Department of Corrections or Probation and Parole Board (commonwealth title);or
+ One year of complex clerical experience; or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
