Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, is a nationally recognized employee-owned provider of educational, vocational, and therapeutic residential services. As an Instructional Aide, you will:
Meet with classroom teacher and/or immediate supervisor to discuss daily activities, academics, behaviors, social and/or medical concerns related to the students.Complete and submit paperwork, lesson plans, instructional data, and behavior data in a timely fashion as scheduled per students assigned.Use Agency-approved treatment techniques in supervising and educating students.Demonstrate familiarity with behavior management and behavior education techniques used at GLS.Act as a role model and set an appropriate example for students, staff, and the community. Demonstrate familiarity with curriculum by using resources to implement students’ program under the direction and training of the classroom teacher and the Education/Learning Coordinator.Engage students in active learning.Provide constructive criticism and feedback for staff working within the classroom setting and ensures that Education Department policies are withheld.Qualifications:Must be at least 21 years old Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferredAt least one year of experience working with special needs students preferredIs eligible for Instructional Aide license through the State of Wisconsin Department of Public InstructionA demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problemsAbility to remain calm under pressure while maintaining self-composure and self-controlEffective working alone and as a member of a teamSchedule & Benefit Information
This is classified as a benefit-eligible 1st shift position. Hours will follow our school schedule which is on-going year round. During times when the students do not have school (holidays, vacations) there will not be scheduled hours, but there is an option to pick up in our residential program. During our summer session when students are in school for shortened days, there may be fewer hours.
