Duration: 10.5 Month Employee
Reports to: Principal
Salary: The expected compensation for this position is $27,000-$32,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
The Instructional Assistant is the perfect opportunity for those who are looking at becoming a certified teacher. The Instructional Assistant is with one classroom of students and works with the General Education Teacher to foster a culture of learning
We are looking for a student-centered, dynamic Instructional Assistant who will:
+ Provide support to our teachers and staff members by fostering a culture of academic rigor and achievement
+ Work with teachers to address individual learning needs of students
+ Plan and provide the Social Emotional Curriculum to the classroom
+ Deliver instruction planned by general education teacher including providing small group instruction
+ Keep students on task by engaging them in the lesson
+ Complete documentation for RTI under the supervision of the general education teacher
+ Provide Academic Intervention Support (AIS) under direction of general education teacher
+ Assist in classroom set-up and logistics - prepping student materials or manipulatives, classroom beautification and maintenance, etc.
+ Provide lunch supervision
+ Support in student behavioral management and de-escalating challenging student behaviors
+ Ensure the safety of students at all times
+ Supervise students in and out of classroom as needed - this may include but is not limited to - moving students to proper locations during fire drills, lunch and recess duty, enrichment activities/classes, etc.
+ Provide an inviting, exciting, stimulating, and innovative learning environment
+ Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning by following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models
+ Enable students to develop social responsibility by faithfully following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models
+ Additional responsibilities to meet the needs of our students

Qualifications
+ Ability to build strong relationships with children and engaging them in lessons
+ Ability to pass a NYS Education Department background check
+ Excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and on a team
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working with students preferably in a classroom setting
+ New York State Elementary Teaching Certificate or NYS Certification as an Instructional Assistant
+ Bachelor's Degree
