No Duties and Responsibilities Instructional coach to work part-time (20 hours per week) as part of the Center for Science and Math Education’s support of effective, high-quality, inclusive approaches to mathematics instruction in Chicago-area K-12 schools.

- Designs and facilitates high-quality mathematics professional development in K-12 mathematics. 

- Supports the implementation of high quality instructional materials in K-12 mathematics.

- Provides support for teachers to understand and implement the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS-M)

- Provides classroom support to teachers in effective instructional practices through modeling, coaching, mentoring and co-teaching. The coach must be able to travel to various school sites.

-Collaborates with administrators, teachers, and with district leaders.

- Helps develop the necessary school infrastructure to support effective program implementation through grade-level meetings, peer observations, and vertical team meetings based upon the scheduling in the school.

- Facilitates planning of lessons and analysis of student work.

- Works collaboratively with other project team members to design and provide various high quality professional development experiences for project teachers and administrators.

- Performs other duties as required.


Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field; at least three years of experience teaching mathematics in middle grades or high school; strong knowledge of successful, research-based teaching strategies; strong preference for experience teaching in urban school settings. 
Qualifications
- Minimum three years teaching experience in mathematics

- Familiarity with research-based mathematics curricula and CCSS-M

-Experience and expertise in middle-grades and/or secondary-level mathematics 

- Ability to work effectively with adult learners in professional development and instructional coaching contexts

- Strong communication skills Certificates/Credentials/Licenses Current teaching license or endorsement in secondary mathematics or middle-grades mathematics preferred. Computer Skills Basic computer skills required, familiarity with MS Office Suite or similar, familiarity with online form creation and basic use of cloud-based systems (box, google drive, etc).
