**Job Summary**
The Instructional Designer in Financial Services (FS) Training and Development will design, develop, and implement high-quality training programs in a variety of media and modalities on FS budgeting, purchasing, and travel systems and processes. This position reports to the Associate Director of Training and Development in FS and will be part of a larger training team that designs, develops, and implements training programs for university staff and faculty. A successful candidate must possess strong writing skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with multiple constituencies in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based work environment. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives on being part of a team, loves the challenge of creating engaging content, and wants to develop their ability to translate technical material into universally-accessible learning modules. Additionally, this role will require a candidate to exercise a high-level of organization and attention to detail.
The ability to collaborate and consult with subject-matter experts on the effective use of learning strategies, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional applications and systems to improve teaching and learning is essential to this position. FS is a wide-ranging division of the University of Utah that impacts all areas of campus with services including accounting, purchasing, travel, grants and contracts, surplus and stores, and more. **Responsibilities**
+ Conducts needs assessments to identify learning gaps and performance goals.
+ Manages course development process in coordination with multiple team members to meet course launch deadlines.
+ Designs detailed course outlines, storyboards, and facilitator guides for online and instructor-led training.
+ Consults with members of the training team, stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and system end users to inform important aspects of training, including but not limited to, target audience, learning objectives, course content, and assessment.
+ Creates learning materials, such as eLearning courses, slide decks, written materials, etc.
+ Uses authoring tools to develop online training, such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Vyond Animation Software, and Camtasia.
+ Develops and implements evaluation techniques to measure the effectiveness of course content, materials, and overall learning experience.
+ Performs other tasks as assigned by the Associate Director of Training and Development.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
Expertise in content research, instructional design and delivery methods and experience delivering training to high level leaders is strongly preferred.
This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
