No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The instructional designer will be responsible for providing instructional design training and development support to faculty, both in groups and individually, who are integrating technology into their courses. This position will advise faculty in the development of accessible instructional materials, the application of pedagogy in technology-based teaching; instructional technology tools and the development and use of online materials in the delivery of instruction.

Experience Cortland dives deep into the region’s offerings Major Responsibilities Major Responsibilities/Duties Work one on one or in small groups with faculty on the development of technologically enhanced courses. Assist faculty in revising and redesigning current courses for synchronous and asynchronous distance learning. Assist faculty in the development of online delivery of courses, accessible materials, and programs. Advise faculty on the pedagogy of technology-based teaching. Collaborate with faculty on technology-based delivery of courses materials. Liaise with assigned academic departments. Develop and deliver pedagogical and technology workshops in the use of course management systems. Participate in Information Resources initiatives, working groups, and committees, as well as campus committees.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Director of Libraries One of three instructional designers on the team Works in partnership with librarians and other library staff on library-wide initiatives Works in partnership with staff from other areas of Information Resources
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in instructional design, curriculum development, educational technology, or similar field. Experience with instructional technologies, course management systems and/or distance education. Experience working in an instructional design environment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience designing online content using instructional technology. Experience in higher education. Experience training on or using a Learning Management System (e.g. Brightspace, Google Classroom, Blackboard). Experience teaching in an educational setting. Experience assisting faculty with accessibility while developing instructional materials.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate consistently exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals at all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and with a team. Strong knowledge of technology-based teaching. Ability to quickly learn new systems and convey knowledge to others.
