The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and publication of education materials that support various industry standard formats. The Instructional Designer applies learning & development strategies that support adult learning theory to develop multimedia content for both instructor-led and self-paced learning. Typical activities include conducting needs analyses, establishing learning objectives, designing storyboards, and developing curriculum. The Instructional Designer serves as a project lead demonstrating solid project and time management skills to continually meet and exceed the learning needs of the organization.  We offer a positive, upbeat work environment where all medical personnel work together for the good of the patient.

 

Job Description

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Apply knowledge of adult learning theories, methods, and techniques through multiple modalities to design and create effective curriculum including manuals, workbooks, evaluation plans and other instructional materials.Align business strategy and goals to deliver high quality, blended learning solutions that positively impact organization goals.Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience training needs to design programs and individual courses; complete audience analyses to determine knowledge, experience, technical skills, and expectations.Apply department development methodologies and standards when creating deliverables to maintain consistency across all curriculums.Write instructional goals and create content that enables learners to master them.Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.Ensure learners have sufficient opportunity to practice learned skills through experiential exercises such as role-plays.Utilize feedback from learners and subject matter experts to continuously improve curriculum.Deliver training to small or large groups.Adapt to a variety of learning styles and abilities.Multimedia DesignDevelop educational materials using various media including video, audio, and games.Script, shoot and edit videos to be used within learning programs.Utilize course development software to create computer-based learning materials.Determine what visuals are needed to facilitate understanding of core concepts, design clear and compelling instructional visuals and graphics.Develop style guides and templates for learner guides, facilitator guides, tip sheets, etc.Use storyboards to collaboratively design eLearning curriculum.Other tasks needed to accomplish team’s objectives/goals. Job Requirements

Educational/ Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or related field.Clinical nursing experience as a RN, NP, PA preferredMinimum 5+ years working as an Instructional Designer.Minimum 3+ years delivering training, in-person or at a distance.

 

 Required Skills and Abilities:

Formatting/graphic layout abilities have an eye for design.Broad computer skills and ability to quickly learn new software and programs (email management systems, learning management systems, process mapping software, course development software, etc.)Experience delivering EMR training, preferred.Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (ADDIE, Rapid Prototyping).Experience with at least one Learning Management System.Experience developing curriculum using course authoring software. (Lectora, Captivate)Advanced skill with Microsoft Office required, particularly PowerPoint.Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, or similar photo editing software.Familiar with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, a plus.Advanced interpersonal and relationship building skills, proven ability to interact effectively with diverse learner skill sets and personalities.Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external resources at all levels.Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple job responsibilities, and exercise critical thinking skills in a fast-paced, high-demand work environment.Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities within those overall deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

       

                  

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will not have supervisory responsibility.

 

Travel requirements: Travel may be required up to 25% locally, or national.

 

Work Conditions: Ability to lift up to 20lbs.  Moving lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 50lbs as well as assist with weights of more than 100lbs.  Ability to stand for extended periods.

Ability to drive to patient locations (ie. home, hospital, SNF, etc).  Fine motor skills/Visual acuity
