JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research (OPAIR) (https://opair.psu.edu/) is looking for an Instructional Designer to join our team. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and delivering training , eLearning materials and other resources to support multiple OPAIR data and analytic solutions . OPAIR’s vision is to be a hub for institutional insights and analyses, and to create systems and processes that provide broader access to OPAIR curated data for the University community. This position typically requi res an associate degree with two years of relevant experience . The location of this job can be in-person at the University Park campus, a hybrid of in-person and remote , or fully remote . Candidates mus t have standard working hours in the Eastern time zone . This position is a part- t ime appointment funded for one year from the hire date. As a member of the OPAIR team, the Instructional Designer will spend most of their time designing self-guided and self-service trai ning materials for different user levels and multiple formats . Specific duties include: + Updating, maintaining existing ,  and creating new training resources for the Institutional Data Repository (IDR) Database , Institutional Insights (iTwo) using Oracle based tools, and multiple Power BI workspaces, dashboards, data models, and reports, including facilitator guides, presentations, workshops, and online documentation.  + Design ing the online user site experience for the RADAR SharePoint site to logically organize training materials and resources to support ongoing user self-service + Creating, revising, and maintaining digital artifacts using a variety of software including Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, SharePoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, Kaltura, and Camtasia + Collaborating with  Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and external colleagues to design and implement training solutions including a variety of techniques such as interactive activities , video, documents and hands-on or scen ar io-based exercises + Delivering online or in-person training to a diverse and widespread population of faculty and staff . The successful candidate must have: + Well-developed understanding of adult learning theories and experience applying best practices for the development and delivery of effective training resources. + Strong written and oral communication and editing skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to a variety of audiences. + Experience developing project plans, managing multiple projects, and meeting project deadlines, with excellent follow-up and organizational skills. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a collaborative team. + Proficiency in Microsoft applications (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel ); Zoom ; and other Penn State supported technology tools , with willingness to learn and explore features and functions. + Proficiency in tools to create or edit training videos , such as zoom recorded training sessions. + Graphic design skills and familiarity with PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, or other design software. + Experience in designing for accessibility (UDL) considerations. + This position typically requires an associate degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
