Instructional Designer (Virtual)

About the Position


Under minimal supervision, plans, manages and coordinates curriculum and program design activities associated with the development, evaluation, assessment, and internal operations of University academic programs, courses, and/or product lines.

 

What You’ll Do

1. Develops and monitors a work plan for curriculum development and maintenance projects. Manages activities of projects to ensure they progress on schedule and are completed by established deadlines.

 

2. Evaluates materials to ensure conformance with established University policies, practices, and standards as well as instructional alignment and appropriate styles, standards, and specifications to achieve established program outcomes.

 

3. Uses multiple measures of student learning outcomes to formulate recommendations for course and program improvement. Presents research findings and recommendations to management and/or curriculum review committee as needed or requested.

 

4. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of student assessment activities.

 

5. Maintains a thorough knowledge of University product lines, policies, practices, standards, and philosophy.

 

6. Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and pursuing related professional development opportunities.

 

7. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May include instruction and direction of others as their functions relate to respective projects.

 

What You Bring to the Table

Bachelor’s degree required.  

Master’s degree or higher in disciplines related to instructional design or a college appropriate discipline preferred.  

 

Two or more years of experience performing in an instructional design role preferred.

 

Must be results oriented and able to organize and independently manage various projects simultaneously.

 

Must possess an understanding of instructional design principles and experience with course design, development, implementation, and evaluation.

 

Must have experience writing/editing and developing instructional materials, e.g. curriculum design or instructional design.

 

Must have experience aligning student learning outcomes with curriculum, course content, materials, and evaluation.

Experience working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to develop curriculum is preferred.

 

Experience creating assessments to support student learning outcomes preferred. 

 

Must possess the ability to effectively facilitate meetings.

 

Must have proven experience performing project management activities.

 

Must be able to demonstrate a sufficient level of analytical and strategic thinking to plan and manage designated projects to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget, as described above.

 

Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

 

Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and present data analysis, research findings, projects, and recommendations.

 

Must be able to use utilize data for program design and revision.

 

Must have a working knowledge of personal software packages to perform word processing activities, as well as create and generate spreadsheets.
