Instructional Systems Designer III, Inflight

If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you. **Role Summary** The Instructional Systems Designer III, Inflight (ISD III) is the instructional design and training development subject matter expert for Flight Attendant training at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of required regulatory and non-regulatory training for the Inflight division. The Instructional Systems Designer III, Inflight partners with Inflight Training Delivery, Safety & Compliance, Policy & Procedures and learning community stakeholders to analyze training needs and to ensure training is compliant with current regulations while looking for ways to create new and innovative instruction. This role employs project management methodology to monitor and control Inflight training development projects, provides leadership and oversight of project team members, and works with training program stakeholders as needed to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of training content development. **Key Duties** + Acts as a subject matter expert in instructional design and Inflight training programs. + With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgment to make decisions on the design, development, and delivery of Flight Attendant computer-based training (CBT) and instructor-led training (ILT) curriculum in accordance with federal regulations and Alaska Airlines Policy and Procedures. + Meets regularly with Inflight training leadership and other key stakeholders in support of training development programs. + Analyzes training needs for new content development as well as for updates to Initial Training and Recurrent Training programs. + Guides instructional design processes, employing industry best practices, to define course requirements and create instructor-led and interactive course content. + Ensures that all training programs conform with 14 CFR Part 121 (air carrier operations) and meets organizational and learning community needs. + Makes recommendations for process improvement. + Manages training development projects and reports on progress. + Reviews ILT, CBT, and blended learning content for adherence to published policy and procedure, development guidelines, writing standards, and sensible course flow. + Implements quality control processes and tracks completion of development efforts that address discrepancies found during reviews. + Assists in maintaining library of process and support documentation. + Provides technical expertise to Flight Attendant instructors regarding content and technology questions to ensure completion of training objectives. + Provides guidance, coaching, and on-the-job support to personnel assigned to training development projects as needed. **Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills** **Required** + 4 years of instructional system design or training experience, or related area. + A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field or two years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree. + Solid understanding of instructional design and performance improvement best practices. + Experience developing courseware to current industry and adult learning standards, including experiential learning, eLearning, social learning, and micro-learning. + Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, presentation, CBT Authoring, web development, mobile development, and/or graphic software. + Self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving skills. + Ability to think originally and creatively and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas. + Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member for group projects. + Ability to satisfactorily complete Inflight Initial Training course. + Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening). + Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). + High school diploma or equivalent is required. + Minimum age of 18. + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. **Preferred** + Intermediate project management skills. + Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360 products, and CornerStone LMS software. + Two years of Flight Attendant experience. + Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) & Content Management Systems (CMS). **Job-Specific Leadership Expectations** Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be remarkable. **Salary Range** $82,950 -- $124,450 / year **Salary Details** Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
