Our MSN in School Health is the first School Nurse Certificate Program based upon the National Association of School Nurses’ (NASN) Framework for the 21st Century School Nursing Practice™.  Posting Summary The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden (RSNC) is seeking a Simulation Instructional Design and Technology Specialist for the Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Innovation (IPEI) Program. The Simulation Instructional Design and Technology Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of simulation-based learning experiences, with a focus on integrating IT systems and technologies, such as networked high-fidelity manikins, AV systems, and simulation software, within the healthcare simulation lab. This position combines expertise in instructional design with advanced technical skills, including troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity issues, and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations and an immersive learning environment with the IPEI program.

Reporting to the Director of the IPEI program, this position partners with staff, faculty, program directors, associate deans, and others to ensure excellence in simulation pedagogy, instructional technology, and rigorous assessment of both curriculum and learning outcomes. This role will also collaborate with stakeholders outside the university to enhance the quality of instruction, the use of simulation technologies, and the assessment of learning outcomes.

The Simulation Instructional Design and Technology Specialist collaborates in the design and development of simulation-based programs and course materials, ensuring alignment with curricular goals and learning outcomes. This individual will enhance the simulation curriculum, instruction, and student learning experiences while introducing new simulation technologies and teaching methodologies. The Specialist also designs and implements faculty development programs focused on integrating simulation technology into instruction. Participating in planning for simulation design and technology is an essential aspect of this role, ensuring that future growth and technological advancements align with the RSNC’s goals.

The Specialist will provide training and support to faculty, prioritize tasks, and oversee the work of student employees in preparing simulation equipment and setting up simulation rooms. Additionally, the Specialist will develop processes for and train faculty and staff on pre-simulation preparation, debriefing, and post-simulation evaluation. The Specialist will ensure the simulation lab adheres to accreditation standards. This includes maintaining detailed records, implementing best practices for simulation operations, and preparing the lab for regular audits to sustain accreditation. The specialist will collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that all simulation activities meet the required standards for educational quality and operational excellence.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in simulation instructional design, along with hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of simulation equipment, computer networks, and audiovisual systems (preferred). A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with certification or formal technical training in simulation technologies.
