The Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech seeks applications for an Instructor of Computer Science. We are seeking candidates motivated to contribute to a collegial, interdisciplinary community with a strong tradition of both fundamental and applied research and innovative teaching. Instructors have a primary commitment to the instructional mission of the department, with a focus on graduate and undergraduate teaching, curricular and program development, and the design and integration of innovative and inclusive pedagogy. Applicants with expertise and interest in any area of scholarship that falls within the computer science department’s research strengths (AI/ML, theory, systems, quantum, security, CS-education, etc.) are encouraged to apply.

The department currently has 86 faculty members, including 67 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 12 collegiate faculty, and 5 instructors. The department’s instructional-track faculty are widely recognized for their teaching, both internally at Virginia Tech, and externally, including recognition through IEEE teaching awards and best paper recognitions at conferences.

These positions are located at Virginia Tech's main campus in Blacksburg, VA, in an area consistently ranked among the country's best places to live. The successful candidate will have a master’s or doctoral degree in computer science or a closely related field and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching and a desire to serve the university and their professional communities.
