**Major/Essential Functions:**
The Department of Computer Science at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for multiple instructor positions. This is a one-semester, renewable appointment. Renewal is contingent on departmental needs and successful performance appraisals. Summer appointments are possible, but not guaranteed, contingent on demand for courses and availability of funding. Instructors contribute to the university's mission through teaching in an area of expertise, mentoring students in professional and career preparation and serving as liaison with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program.

The following is a listing of the expectations for the instructor position:
+ Develop curriculum
+ Teach courses assigned
+ Provide office hours
+ Course assessments for accreditation purposes (e.g. SACSCOC, ABET, etc.) and continuous improvement
+ Create assignments and exams and appropriate solution keys
+ Answer queries related to the course

**About the College:**
The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE, https://www.depts.ttu.edu/coe/) serves approximately 4800 undergraduate and 1300 graduate students, supported by 220 faculty and instructors. The college had 852 BS, 557 MS and 68 PhD graduates in the 2023-24 fiscal year. All incoming first year students are enrolled in a common foundational curriculum for all undergraduate programs. Foundational students declare a program of choice and can move into upper division after completing the foundational classes with a TTU GPA of 2.5 or higher. The WCOE consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering. All BS programs and the Environmental Engineering Master’s program are ABET accredited. All departments have master’s and PhD programs. Annual research expenditures at the college are around $18M.

The Department of Computer Science offers four degree programs, including Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Software & Security Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. As of Fall 2024, the department has 451 undergraduate major students and 564 graduate students, including 481 Master and 83 PhD students.
