Position Title Instructor for English Language Studies ELS Department Wrkfc PartAdult Ed amp Literacy Position Category TemporaryPart time About CCRI The Community College of Rhode Island is New Englands largest community college and a nationally recognized leader in catalyzing student success and achievement for recent high school graduates and returning adults alike We provide affordable open access to higher education and we deliver on our mission to offer all students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for intellectual professional and personal growthDiversity is our strength We champion equity and we celebrate support and thrive on the diverse experiences backgrounds and perspectives that are represented across our four campuses We strive to hire and retain culturally competent faculty and staff whose demographics are reflective of our diverse student body To learn more about our employees values and what it means to work here learn about our Guiding Principles here Job Summary CCRI Division of Workforce Partnerships is seeking qualified applicants as part time ESOL instructors for in person classes on Providence and Lincoln campuses We accept applications on an on going basis and will contact qualified candidates as course availability opens Workforce Partnerships currently has openings for part time instructors to teach Levels 1 5 on MondayWednesday or Tuesday Thursday 630 830 OR Saturdays 9am 1pm at both Providence amp Lincoln locations The non credit English Language Studies ELS program at CCRI assists individuals who need to begin or expand their English language skills in order to succeed in their studies and careers Students come from a wide range of countries educational levels and language backgrounds Focus is given to developing integrated skills in reading writing listening and speaking Duties and Responsibilities Engage in high quality language instruction in a diverse inclusive student centered environment Ability to work with students with various learning styles cultures and life experiences both online and in person Prepare effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction Keep detailed and organized records of students attendance assessments and progress including a final evaluation Collaborate with the coordinator and other instructors in the program and attend meetings as needed Demonstrate a commitment to professional development in adult education Minimum Requirements Bachelors Degree in TESOL Education ESL or related field Masters preferred Relevant teaching experience in an education setting experience teaching oral communication classes Curriculumcourse development experience with a demonstrated high level of preparation and attention to detail Deep understanding of oral communication challenges for adult students Demonstrated excellence in teaching Strong computer skills and comfortable with technology and course management systems Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management especially in terms of linguistically and culturally diverse student Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficient in the use of technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications Word Excel and PowerPoint primarily email the internet for instruction and program purposes Creativity and flexibility in the classroom is expected Competencies Reports To Coordinator Campus Location Multi Campus Locations Full timePart time Part Time Shift Days and Additional Work Schedule Information Work Schedule Varies Benefits SalaryHourly Rate 3713 per hour Additional Salary Information Licenses Tools and Equipment Environmental Conditions Desired Start Date ASAP Position End Date if temporary or grant
