Along the way, the University has awarded over 45,000 degrees since 1951, developing and supporting a reputation for educational excellence both regionally and nationally. **Job Description:** The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a Professor of the Practice position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2025. This is a non-tenure track position including teaching and service with no research obligations. The position is for instruction in our General Chemistry for the Health Sciences curriculum: a one-semester lecture course and a one-semester laboratory course that are required for nursing students and are taken by many pre-health students. The courses include topics in general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. The teaching load each semester will be three lecture sections and one laboratory section. The lecture and laboratory materials for these courses are coordinated to complement each other. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to university service opportunities. **Requirements:** Applicants are expected to have completed a M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or an allied field, or should expect to receive their degree by summer 2025. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory, and should have undergraduate teaching experience, preferably in General Chemistry for the Health Sciences or in a similar course. Candidates should have good communication skills and experience using classroom/laboratory technology. Additionally, successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to pedagogical innovation. **Additional Information:** The Department consists of eleven full-time faculty representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. The Department has high quality NSF-funded instrumentation including a 400 MHz NMR spectrometer and a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. Our Department offers ACS-accredited B.S. degrees in Chemistry and in Biochemistry.
