Function/Duties of Position

The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Division of Neonatology is pleased to announce our recruitment for an Instructor or Assistant Professor level board-certified/board-eligible pediatric/neonatal hospitalist or advanced practitioner for OHSU and the OHSU affiliated clinical care site of Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC).  

 

Clinical responsibilities primarily involve coverage of our community site at HMC which includes overseeing an 8-bed level II NICU and inpatient pediatrics, guiding neonatal resuscitation and management of acute newborn needs, providing well newborn care, and consulting in the ED for pediatric patients. This provider should be experienced and comfortable with neonatal resuscitations following Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines, and will work as a team leader with RN's and RT's with assistance from consulting Neonatologists via telemedicine as needed.

 

Additionally, depending on applicant experience and goals, there may be opportunities to have clinical time at the OHSU Doernbecher Neonatal Care Center with additional coverage at any of our affiliated or partner hospitals: PeaceHealth in Vancouver, Washington, and Adventist Health.

 

This provider will join a team committed to excellence in pediatric care and benefit from the dissemination of OHSU evidence-based guidelines, ongoing participation in pediatric medicine, as well as neonatology-based educational opportunities.

 

Additionally, this provider will be responsible for educating medical students and residents rotating at HMC and at OHSU.  The teaching duties will generally involve a combination of experiential learning around patient care on the unit, simulating activities, mentoring and didactics.

Well newborn careAttendance at high-risk deliveriesResuscitation and stabilization of the newborn infant inclusive of intubation and placement of umbilical linesCare for level II NICU patients including those with respiratory distress of the newborn and air leak syndromesInpatient management of routine pediatric illnessesCare coordination and discharge planning of complex NICU patientsAssist in care of complex NICU patientsTeaching of medical students and residents Required Qualifications Applicants should be board-certified/board eligible in Pediatrics with a career goal centered in hospital-based pediatric and neonatal clinical care. Recent pediatric and newborn experience and skills in neonatal resuscitation following the current NRP guidelines, as well as proficiency in the management of ill newborns is required.Applicants should have excellent communication and leadership skills and enjoy working collaboratively with families and other healthcare providers.
