Posting Number: 240188 Job Title: Instructor Pool - Individual Music Lessons Applicant Notification: The Performing Arts department is seeking to expand its pool for MUP (Individual Music Lessons) instructors in Bassoon starting Winter 2025.

Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning. This is an application pool posting for 2024-2025. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College’s main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Required Education: Master’s Degree in Music Performance or Music Education from a regionally accredited institution. Required Experience: One (1) year teaching individual/group lessons or ensemble performance at the high school or college level. Experience should be within the last seven (7) years. High-level solo proficiency on appropriate instrument or voice demonstrated through peer review. Position Purpose: The Performing Arts Department at Lane Community College requires all music majors to enroll in individual lessons (MUP) each term for a total of six (6) courses. These students must work with a qualified Individual Lesson instructor commensurate with their needs and abilities in their primary instrument/voice. All MUP courses are one-credit courses regardless of level and each course consists of ten 50-minute individual lessons. All incoming students will begin at MUP 100, non-major level. The ultimate goal is to attain 200-level courses by successfully completing level-up juries. Essential Functions: Provide ten 50-minute individual private lessons beginning the second week of the term. Coordinate the end-of-term jury during final exam week with the MUP Coordinator (department music faculty). The department music faculty will supervise and coordinate recital hours and end-of-term juries and assessments. Your presence is requested at your student’s jury. Juries are required for students to progress above the MUP 100 level. Coordinate performance classes with the MUP Coordinator. Oversee students’ preparation for admission auditions, rehearsal with accompanist, stage manner, and anything pertaining to presentation of performance. At the end of term, submit an Individual Lesson Course Full Report for each student above MUP 100 level and an Individual Lesson Course Summary for MUP 100 level. Maintain requirements for student records, attendance, grades, syllabi, and/or other documentation. Comply with College policies and procedures, including accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, etc. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
