Instructor Position in Cardiovascular Medicine - Kahn Laboratory
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of mouse models of development and disease, generation of transgenic animals, cell culture, molecular biology techniques, immunohistochemistry, cardiovascular medicine and research. Applicants must have an M.D. degree. Candidates should be board certified or eligible in Cardiovascular Medicine. Responsibilities may include studying various aspects of vascular biology including: mechanisms of vascular malformations, heart disease, lymphatic and blood vessel development, and COVID-19-related vascular pathologies. We combine complex mouse genetics systems with state-of-the-art biochemical and molecular approaches to understand the function of these pathways during development and disease. We have collaborations across Penn, CHOP, and other academic institutions. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to to run an independent research program within the laboratory of Dr. Mark Kahn. Selected candidates will be expected to submit grant proposals and secure independent funding. Selected candidates will work with technicians and have the opportunity to mentor graduate students and collaborate with investigators within PSOM and outside institutions.
