Responsibilities

In partnership with CSPD management, the Education Coordinator is responsible for collaborative assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and consultation of educational activities at the unit level in a 24/7 environment and accountable for the effective implementation of the education programs for CSPD. Provides a comprehensive technical orientation, training, and continuing education program for the CSPD department staff. Maintains education and training records for staff. The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert in the policies, processes, and procedures of the department. The Education Coordinator will also serve as a resource to the team regarding new policies, procedures, equipment, and information and the implementation of new product and services for the department and other reprocessing areas. The Education Coordinator understands and can teach best practices related to the collection, cleaning, disinfection, processing, sterilization, and distribution of sterile/non-sterile products and can also function in the practice as needed. Establishes and assists in monthly in-service and education programs for staff.



Qualifications

Associates degree and 5 years of experience (10 years’ experience in lieu of degree considered) in sterile processing. CRCST Certification Skills required for this position: Knowledge and application of education principles and concepts. Knowledge and application of infection control principles and best practices related to reprocessing of reusable items. Knowledge and application of CSPD policies and procedures as applicable. Strong project management, teaching and facilitation skills, and problem-solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines. Strong oral and written communication skills and computer skills. Must be able to present and teach infection control, customer service and reprocessing principles and concepts. Must have strong organizational and time management skills, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skills. Ability to work with minimal direction, prioritizes work, multitask, and meet project timelines. Must be able to work under stressful conditions, maintaining a positive attitude in a changing environment. 
Bachelor's degree preferred. CER and CIS Certification. Professional experience in a hospital and/or human services delivery program, specifically Central Sterile Processing, preferred. Experience using adult education processes and methodologies are preferred. Central Service Technician certification required.
