VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley is seeking an Instrument Sterilization Assistant to complement our Team in Woodland Hills, California. We have full-time or part-time positions available, with the flexibility to work at least one weekend shift.

The hourly range for this position is $18-$21. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Instrument Assistants are responsible for:

Clean and sterilize surgical instrumentsBe able to properly use and perform maintenance on autoclave, ultrasonic and all cleaning devices.Have or be willing to obtain a gas sterilizer certificateProperly pack instruments using the correct indicators containers and pouchesMaintain and care for surgical instruments and equipment.Maintain a log of surgical instruments and pull lists for different surgical proceduresSurgical scrub laundry and some general cleaning in surgery areasOrganizing surgical rooms on a daily a basisPrepare/clean operating rooms prior to surgery and after surgeryFamiliarity of sterile technique to open instruments during a surgeryPossibly running bloodwork, assisting with patient care and positioning for x-rays
