40Summary:
Instrument Technician, Lead responsibilities include assisting the coordinator / supervisor in the daily flow of work in the department. This includes maintaining adequate reserve inventory for assembly of instrument sets and equipment. Serves as a liaison for surgery (OR) to expedite high priority surgical procedures and or instruments. Provides mentoring to all staffs on the unit as needed. Participates in Sterile processing leadership and planning for department. Maintains and prevents cross contamination by observing dress codes, environmental policies and traffic control.
Education & Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent is requiredExperience as an instrument technician of a minimum 5 years is recommendedKnowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination and assembly procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, The Joint commission, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures, generally as related to the Sterile Processing departmentKnowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, sets and trays to include instruments, classification, disassembly, and cleaning procedureCertification/Licensure:
Current HeartSaver Certification within 30 days of hireCertification in a national organization for sterile processing is required; CRCST or CBSPD (Failure to maintain certification will result in demotion to Sterile Processing Technician I)About Us:
