Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Systems Engineer

Role description:

Arcadis is looking for an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer with 1 to 3 years of experience to join our Water Business Line in our Dallas, Texas office. This is an exciting opportunity for an I&C Systems Engineer to join our team and work on projects with a variety of I&C, automation system design, and SCADA integration. The selected candidate will be responsible for I&C and SCADA design and implementation services for diverse clients and projects for environmental remediation, industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems and facilities.

Role accountabilities:

The ideal candidate will provide engineering and design services to produce design and construction documents for projects. Responsibilities include coordinating with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers, preparing technical memoranda, developing design criteria, SCADA system architecture, P&IDs, SCADA network diagrams, control schematics, and assisting in project management tasks such as budgeting, cost estimating, and project scheduling.

 This role also involves, supporting electrical engineering for I&C systems design, conducting testing and startup of I&C and SCADA systems, programming process control logic, configuring HMI for SCADA systems, and producing written specifications. 

The successful candidate will be expected to travel to client sites and other office locations as needed, contributing technical expertise from project inception to successful turnover.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field of study. 1 to 3 years of experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation. Basic knowledge of PLC controls and SCADA systems. Basic knowledge of IT and industrial networks. Basic understanding of industrial processes. Engineer in Training (EIT) license, or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Willingness to travel (25%).

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic AutoCAD and Revit working experience.   Knowledge in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment and developing SCADA networks. Knowledge of designing and developing fiber optic cable networks for SCADA systems. Knowledge of radio and cellular telemetry networks.  Experience in developing bid and construction documents. Experience in HMI/PLC platforms configuration. Experience in IT and industrial networks. PLC/HMI programming, configuration & startup experience. Design and programming experience in the water and wastewater industry.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
