Job Description

***The Compensation range for this position is approximately $79,000 - $90,000 based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and education***

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Lab Systems Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical and controls engineering with a passion for ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of electrical systems and components.

 

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining test systems, developing test plans, analyzing test data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues. You will play a critical role in the development and validation of test systems for new products, as well as the continuous improvement of existing test systems.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial purposes. Prepare and interpret technical drawings and/or electrical system specifications. Use computer-assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform assignments.Integrate test systems interface circuitry with various levels of electrical and software complexities.Collaborate with product design engineers & technicians to develop & implement testing strategies in order to roll out testing requirements for new products.Set up and maintain test equipment.Identify and troubleshoot issues in electrical systems.Develop and maintain documentation related to test requirements, drawings, BOMS, test procedures, test results and project plans.Stay current with industry trends and advancements in testing methodologies.Ensure the safety and reliability of electrical systems.Provide technical support to other departments as needed.Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.Participate in project planning and review meetings.Support the development of testing protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.2+ years of experience in electrical testing.Strong understanding of electrical principles and standards.Proficiency in controls automation and software packages, i.e. LabViewAbility to design and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and instrumentation using IEC61311 programming languages including ladder logic, functional block diagrams and structured text.Proficiency with testing tools and software i.e. CAD.Excellent problem-solving skills.Proficiency in technical documentation.Experience with risk assessment and mitigation.Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong organizational and project management skills.Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to HVAC is a plus
