Job Title: Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Fully Remote)
Job Description
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be responsible for the specification and procurement of instrumentation for large frame gas turbines, the creation and maintenance of all supporting instrument documentation, and the maintenance of gas turbine control logic documentation. The engineer will support project engineering in addressing all customer GT instrumentation needs and assist in bid assessment for new gas turbine builds.
Responsibilities
+ Determine customer instrumentation and control contract requirements and delivery dates.
+ Create instrumentation procurement schedules.
+ Develop instrument technical specifications and request for quotes.
+ Verify supplier quotes and ensure all instrumentation meets system P&IDs.
+ Create instrument loops and data sheets for instrumentation.
+ Generate drawings for instrumentation.
+ Prepare design input documents needed for I/O list creation.
+ Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, project management, and other relevant authorities within cost and time-constrained environments.
+ Collaborate with design engineers, operations engineers, purchasers, sales & marketing, and other internal staff.
+ Resolve customer comments on all responsible drawings.
+ Create and maintain I&C procedures and checklists.
+ Troubleshoot and problem-solve at various project sites.
+ Ensure compliance with the technical standards of the country in which work is undertaken.
+ Interpret and apply applicable codes such as ISA, ANSI/NEMA, NFPA, AGA, etc.
+ Qualify new vendors if required.
+ Travel up to 15%.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of relevant I&C experience in power plants, process/chemical plants, or oil & gas.
+ Proficiency in instrumentation, P&ID, process instrumentation diagrams, and plant processing knowledge.
+ Experience with Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, Simatic, Ovation, Delta V, pressure transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, thermocouples, RTDs, vibration, speed, positioners, LVDTs, level, calorie meters, CEMS, emissions, balance of plant (BOP), I/O count, I/O list, and signal interfaces.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Highly desirable but not required experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) and Smart Plant 3D (S3D).
+ Experience conducting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for instrumentation.
+ Support field operations in performing on-site installation of instrumentation when necessary.
+ Provide start-up commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting support for equipment failures, determine root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
+ Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering from a four-year college or university, with at least five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in specific I&C disciplines applicable to power plants.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
+ Strong mathematical skills, including probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
+ Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
+ Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
+ Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment
The work environment is an engineering office with a team of about 8. The culture is heavily influenced by Japanese expectations of politeness when dealing with both clients and customers.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00
