What You'll Be Doing

Summary: This position will independently apply electrical and instrumentation knowledge base to generate issued for construction design packages and assist in execution of capital projects. This teammate will make decisions on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in project meetings to resolve important questions with key engineers.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for design for instrumentation, process control systems, and instrument components for heavy industrial facilities.Responsible for study, design, specification, and services related to electrical and instrumentation equipment including control valves, flow meters, temperature/pressure/level instrumentation, cabling and wiring, communication systems, grounding, heat tracing, etc.Responsible for in-line instrumentation specifications, compliance with piping standards, and material of construction selection.Assist in conducting instrumentation and electrical reviews of all project packages prior to IFC to ensure that quality procedures are followedReview project design estimates and scopes of work for new and proposed projects Consulted on design, specification, selection, and services relating to instrumentation and control systems including basic process control systems, safety systems, control panels, analyzer systems, telecommunications, field instrumentation, valves, etc.Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of applicable electrical & instrumentation design experience in heavy industrial industryPE license preferredExperience in P&I diagrams, loop sheets, logics, and control schematicsWorking knowledge of the NEC and IBC Codes.Experience utilizing vendor equipment specifications and reading vendor manuals to implement control solutions in an industrial settingExperience with CAD systems, preferably MicrostationExperience working with and mentoring designers/team membersExperience in communicating job packages/projects with construction and plant personal.Experience in developing scopes of work, task analysis, material list and project schedulesPreferred experience in 480 volt power distribution systems, lighting, schematic wiring diagrams, cable / raceway sizing, lightning protection and grounding requiredPreferred Experience in voltage drop calculations, wiring sizing and conduit fill calculations.

Physical Requirements:

Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremesWork will require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed bootsMust be able to complete necessary field work in process areas around the plant site
