Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

An Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer works as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, design, installation, and integration of airborne data acquisition systems for the Instrumentation Design section.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties: Contribute as a member or lead of an instrumentation design team on complex mechanical engineering assignments in fast-paced prototyping environment. Independently perform a range of design, development, analysis, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines. Complete design specifications, analyses, or design reviews for aircraft instrumentation. Generate comprehensive design specifications for airborne data acquisition instrumentation. Collaborate closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. Ensure verification and compliance with engineering documentation, design, and airworthiness standards and procedures. Conduct mechanical stress, fluid, and thermal analysis for airborne instrumentation. Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. Directly interface with customers at all levels from requirements development to final design and test activities. Act as liaison for design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications. Conduct site visits to support aircraft modification and system test efforts. Perform other job-related duties, as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, or other digital engineering software Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and machining operations Ability to read and analyze electrical diagrams and mechanical schematics Finite Element Analysis using digital engineering software Aircraft instrumentation, specifically avionics or data acquisition IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 4 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and 2 years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:

Mastery of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable the employee to serve as a technical authority on projects relating to the specific programs. Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve problems. Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools. Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines. Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $92,040 to $146,653 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.
