Job Description
Geotechnical engineers will take samples from the field crews and evaluate soil, rock, and underground water to determine the feasibility and design specifications for construction projects. The role is based onsite at Offutt Air Force Base, performing geotechnical analysis and studies to assess construction site conditions. The technician will act as a liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers, plan and conduct geotechnical exploration, and perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects.
ResponsibilitiesInspect and check quality, participating in the execution of soil sampling 20% of the time.Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports to the Project Manager.Provide direction to the technical team in field inspection activities.Interact with customers and team members to complete the assigned project on time.Review construction design proposals and approve geotechnical aspects.Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively.Essential SkillsMinimum associate degree in construction management or civil engineering.1-5 years of commercial construction experience.Experience in construction inspection, instrumentation, calibration, and documentation.Proficiency in topographic surveys and data collection.Pass MVR requirements.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience as an inspector, observer, surveyor, or CMT.Ability to manage a team and move into a project engineering role.Strong organizational skills.Successful experience in client service management.Leadership skills, including setting direction for a team and strategy development.Decision-making skills, including making sound business decisions and solving complex problems.Understanding of geotechnical practices including exploration, analysis, and design.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Work Environment
20% of the time will be spent in-office planning and documentation, while 70% will be onsite at Offutt Air Force Base, a loud and dirty commercial construction site. The technician will report to the Project Manager in Geotechnical Engineering and act as the liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
