Summary You will serve as a INSULATOR LEADER in the PIPE SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will receive supervision in the form of oral and written instructions from a Foreman. You will direct the work of helpers assigned to work with them. You will report immediately any observed or suspected violation of cleanliness. You will recommend assignments of personnel to ensure skills training is optimized using current ships availability and schedule. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: *Reports to the supervisor on status and progress of work and cause of work delays. * Instructs Insulators, Insulator Helpers, and Student Trainees (Insulator) on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools, and safety pertaining to shop trade skills. * Gives appropriate skills training utilizing shop training tools such as mock-ups, in-Shop work areas or facilities, as appropriate, and on deck-plates. * Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, and project plans to identify the dimensional characteristics of the surfaces, curves, angles, and slopes to be covered. * Plan and layouts, repair, and modify projects to insure uniform finish and stability.
