Insurance Actuarial Investment Consultant – London
The Mercer Insurance Solutions team has a mandate to grow both the Advisory and the Insurance Solutions business across the International Region i.e. global ex-US. The team works with all types of insurers – life, non-life, health and captive insurers, as well as reinsurers. You will play a leading role in growing Mercer’s business with insurance clients with the aim of retaining and increasing existing revenues and acquiring new business, with a particular focus on investment implementation. The role covers project delivery, business development and proposition development.
We will count on you to:
Work collaboratively with the other Marsh & McLennan operating companies Marsh, Guy Carpenter and Oliver Wyman in offering solutions to insurance clients
Provide strategic investment advice to a portfolio of insurance clients including but not limited to asset allocation, portfolio structuring, investment risk optimisation and implementation
Gain and maintain confidence of Delegated Solutions and group-wide distribution teams, collaborating to source and close new business opportunities
Design and deliver high quality investment solutions supporting proposals, presentations, RFPs & RFIs
Be the insurance-investment expert in client pitches and business development activities, working alongside local distribution colleagues
Lead project teams or act as a senior resource for the largest projects. Delegate work to analysts, provide guidance and peer review, and act as a coach/mentor to junior colleagues.
Maintain and check technical accuracy, reasonableness of own work and others
What you need to have:
Actuarial qualification – ideally fully qualified although part qualified actuaries may also be considered
Background in an investment or market risk role predominantly focused on insurers – gained through working in-house at an insurer, asset manager or consultancy
Excellent technical understanding of insurance investments
In-depth knowledge of insurers’ assets and liabilities; ability to construct optimal and practically implementable asset strategies to meet clients’ objectives
Strong analytical and quantitative experience of modelling, risk analysis, stress and scenario analysis on insurance products/portfolios
Contribute to Mercer’s publications for insurers and participate in Mercer-hosted insurance client events and related marketing activities
High degree of commercial awareness and confidence to effectively orchestrate outcomes through other teams and specialist groups
