Duties for this position include confirming all necessary information needed to properly perform and identify billing information needed to maintain compliance with institutional, state, and federal practices.
Primary responsibilities will include obtaining pre-certification and pre-authorization of test and medication requests by medical providers as well as working with medical providers to find suitable alternatives to tests or medications that do not meet pre-certification or pre-authorization requirements. This position will require the ability to sit for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge and experience in medical coding (ICD-10 and CPT) as well as medical terminology is highly recommended. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment are needed, as well as knowledge of the insurance authorization process. This position requires exceptional customer service skills. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience Associate degree in a healthcare-related field and at least five years of healthcare employment experience preferred; understanding of CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes highly preferred. Job Summary The Radiation Medicine Clinic is currently seeking an Insurance Authorization Specialist to provide standardization, quality, expertise and customer service focus to our medical departments.
