Ready to grow with us? **Job Overview** This position is responsible for obtaining precertification and verification of benefits with all insurance carriers for admissions, surgeries, procedures, studies and/or other clinical services. Responsible for the accurate and complete collection and capture of patient registration data. Reviews and verifies scheduled ambulatory visits for an assigned area, including confirmation that valid insurance coverage exists, that a referral is authorized for specialty visits, and the accuracy of primary care physician data for all managed care patients. Financially secures each account well in advance and escalates financial clearance concerns through prompt and closed-loop communication. Provides support to others in the capacity of a team leader or subject matter expert within assigned workgroup. Hours: Full-Time / 40 hours a week / Mon-Friday 6:45am-3:15pm **Job Description** **Minimum Qualifications:** 1. Associates degree. 2. Three (3) years of related experience in a hospital, physician office, or financial services. **Preferred Qualifications:** 1. Five (5) years of related experience in a hospital, physician office, or financial services. 2. Bilingual. 3. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA). **Duties and Responsibilities** **:** The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1. Conducts telephone Pre-Registration on assigned accounts. This will include insurance verification, benefit determination, as well as payment calculation. 2. Communicates patient financial responsibilities to patients and/or family members if appropriate. This will include co-payments, coinsurance, and deductible and outstanding bad debt obligations. Offers payment options and collects if possible at time of telephone pre-registration. Effectively communicates this information to other hospital employees. 3. Notifies ordering/performing provider’s office of authorization requirements, and ensures authorization is obtained 5 days prior to the DOS or asks the office to postpone procedure. 4. Performs admission notification as required to meet payer guidelines for elective admissions. 5. Accurately and completely documents all insurance verification, benefit determination and patient financial responsibilities in a timely manner. 6. Posts payments collected electronically following departmental procedures. 7. Takes personal responsibility to provide excellent customer service to all “customers” (patients, co-workers, visitors, vendors). 8. Ensures the quality of work produced meets or exceeds departmental expectations. Demonstrates proficiency with use of Insurance Web sites to verify eligibility and benefits. 9. Communications (written and verbal) are clear, honest and expressed in a pleasant manner to facilitate shared decision-making and foster a learning environment. Listens carefully, understanding the full intent of vocabulary and non-verbal cues.
