At Laing O'Rourke we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Insurance Manager to manage the insurance requirements for specific projects within our international engineering and construction business. Reporting directly to the Group Insurance Manager, this role offers the exciting opportunity to work alongside internal teams, external insurers, and legal advisors to assess risk exposures and secure appropriate insurance coverage. This position will ensure compliance with business minimum standards and contractual requirements while contributing to the smooth execution of our projects.
The role presents an opportunity for the individual to gain broad experience of the insurance exposures of a multi-national construction business and for the mix of responsibilities to be adapted suit the individual's skills, experience and qualities.
The candidate should be enthusiastic and willing to take on new responsibilities. Capable of working unsupervised and possess the ability to interface with others who do not have knowledge or experience of insurance.

What will the role look like?
Assist project teams with Contract Works & Plant losses, ensuring all relevant claims are managed effectively. Provide guidance on insurance cover, claims notifications, and liaise with loss adjusters to support the commercial teams in presenting and collating claims. Maintain regular communication with brokers, loss adjusters, and underwriters to keep projects covered. Administration of professional indemnity policy Respond to queries from project teams and offer guidance regarding insurance requirements and procedures. Analysis of claims experience data and reporting on findings Developing & implementation of business improvements Preparing underwriting information and participation in insurance renewals Assistance with procurement of project specific insurance policies Involvement in pre-contract reviews of insurance arrangementsWhat skills & experience are we looking for?
Previous experience in insurance claims, underwriting, or broking, ideally within the construction sector. Knowledge of professional indemnity and third-party property insurance claims. Formal insurance qualifications (CII/CILA) are preferred, though not essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including project teams and external partners. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. An eagerness to grow within the role and develop further expertise.Don't match all the criteria?
