Job Description:The Work:Determines and verifies insurance coverage and coordination of benefits from all sources.Confirms insurance coverage and procedure. Determines necessity for pre-authorization and obtains authorization for scheduled procedures.Enters patient insurance, authorization, and order/RX information into the patient record and documents insurance coverage of services to be provided.Notifies patient/payer of his/her financial responsibility for services to be provided. Notifies patients and practitioners of any services requested and/or referred that are not authorized by insurance.Communicates with patients, practitioners and payer regarding financial responsibility and financial clearance issues.

Experience:Previous medical office or hospital clerical experience is essential.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.Insurance Knowledge: Proficient in insurance verification, pre-authorization, and medical necessity.Organizational Skills: Effective multitasking and strong organizational capabilities.Technical Skills: Quick and accurate keyboarding proficiency.
