GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing the Patient Access process, completing accurate registration and pre-registration process as necessary. Accountable for insurance verification for eligibility, coordinating multiple insurance payers in proper sequence, and informing patient/doctor's office as to authorization requirements and insurance requirements for each service. Collaborates with multiple departments, insurance companies, and physician offices to financially secure patient accounts prior to service. Displays a courteous, professional manner, proactively developing strong working relationships and giving high priority to patient satisfaction.
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree preferred. Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minutes). Strong technology skills and critical thinking skills are critical. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical terminology and insurance verification. Past work experience of at least (6) six months within a physician office, hospital or clinic environment, performing registration activities or an insurance company, performing payer activities are highly desired but not required. Working required Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) credentials by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) is also preferred.
