Intake Counselor/ Court Liaison

Outreach is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Intake Counselor/Court Liaison to work in our adolescent residential substance use disorder program located in Ridgewood, Queens. The Intake Counselor/Court Liaison is responsible for assisting with all assessment, admission and referent correspondence to insure timely admissions into the treatment program.
What You Will Do:
+ Conduct phone screening and schedule appointments.
+ Conduct intake with clients and families and coordinate all aspects of the intake.
+ Gather information including a psycho-social assessment to determine the appropriate level of care.
+ Makes necessary visits to incarcerated clients to facilitate assessments and admissions.
+ Meets with client, parent and attorney before court appearance, as needed.
+ Assists client at conferences with the District Attorney’s Office for plea bargaining, probation, pertaining to pre-sentencing reports, bench conferences pending adjudication of cases, conferences with attorneys.
+ Arranges that cases in Supreme, Criminal and Family Courts be called when a staff member can be present to assist the client and act as escort, as directed.
+ Responsible for community relations with District Attorney’s Office, probation, judges and court personnel.
+ Complete all supporting documentation and circulate copies to designated staff when indicated.
+ Contact referents and other service providers for additional information as well as follow-up contacts with case disposition.
+ Conference client’s case in supervision and communicate all pertinent information, both written and verbal to designated staff.
+ If client is appropriate coordinate all aspects of the admission which includes parent and referent contact with decisions, give admission paperwork and admit date.
+ Forward monthly statistics to supervisor.
+ Generate new contacts and update referrals through mail-outs, phone contact and tours. Plan, organize and facilitate events, i.e. Open Houses.
+ Work approximately one Saturday a month to provide support to the resident community and to the Substance Abuse Counselors.
+ Participate in Parent Support Group and special family events, as needed.
Who You Are:
+ Minimum of CASAC-T required. CASAC, LMSW, LMHC preferred, with 2-3 years of experience in substance abuse disorder treatment
+ Experience working within the NYC Court system
+ Experience working with adolescents
+ Extensive knowledge of community resources available to clients who are diagnosed with substance use disorders and mental health disorders
+ Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
+ Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse interdisciplinary team
+ Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning
+ Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
+ Must be able to work three evenings per week (Mon 9-5p, Wed 1-9p) Tues, Thurs, Fri. 10-6p
