As part of a hardworking team of diverse spacecraft development engineers, you will lead development of an in-space transportation vehicle. Your responsibilities will include leading a cross-discipline team to deliver a demonstration product; evaluate technical results and make data driven decisions; coordinate with internal and external suppliers; preform mechanical/thermal/aerothermal analysis as needed.

Responsibilities:
Lead the design, build, and integration of the thermal protection system product and components
Lead a cross-discipline team of engineers and technicians to design, build, and produce thermal protection system product; disciplines include thermal, mechanical/structural, aerodynamics, aerothermal, and material science
Perform technical analysis in one of the above disciplines
Decompose user requirements into functional, physical, system, etc. and define key performance parameters
Develop a technical plan to achieve program milestones
Define the baseline configuration for a reusable space transportation system
Perform to cost and schedule and report on progress to Program Manager/Executive Leadership
Collaborate with and manage suppliers to ensure on-time component delivery
Apply extensive understanding on a wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts, and tools in the fields of space vehicles and reentry vehicles
Work independently without appreciable direction to determine the objectives of assignments and develop approaches to solutions
Mentor and train other personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Aerospace, Aerodynamics, Thermal, Aerothermal, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, Material Science, or related technical subject area
Experience with hardware development and delivery
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Understanding of the principles, concepts, and methods of systems engineering such as concept development, requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operations
Broad knowledge of space vehicles, reentry vehicles, propulsion systems, and spacecraft systems development
Previous experience(s) of rapidly maturing programs
Experience regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. in aerospace, thermal, mechanical/structural, aerodynamics, aerothermal, material science, composite design/analysis, or related technical subject area
10+ years’ experience in aerospace systems development
10+ years’ experience in the development of exoatmospheric and endoatmospheric flight vehicles
Hypersonic vehicle thermal protection systems analysis, development, and integration experience
Liquid rocket propulsion systems integration experience
Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, Windchill and other model-based systems engineering tools
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30;CO applicants is $134,838.38-$188,773.73;WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30Other site ranges may differ
