Summary:
Provides integration support between the main Hospital Information System(s) (HIS) and it's associated clinical and financial systems such as CHS Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, etc. Additionally, integration between the ancillary systems is also supported. Implements model interfaces using the vendor's technical specifications. Develops custom interfaces and modifies model interfaces to provide technical integrated solutions for the Catholic Health System's business needs, best practices and regulatory compliance. Maintains accurate, complete integration documentation for data flows, connectivity specifications, routing, filtering, data manipulation, problem resolution, root cause analysis and change control. Communicates effectively with vendors, project managers, CHS business associates and other members of the CHS Integration Team. Mentors subordinate integration staff to ensure standards are being followed, technical skills are being developed and their professional goals are achieved.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and two (2) years experience using an integration engine in a multi-hospital healthcare production (live) environment
+ Or, six (6) to eight (8) years experience using an integration engine in a multi-hospital healthcare production (live) environment
EXPERIENCE
+ Successful completion of a formal vendor sponsored training course or certification for Siemens OPENLink integration engine or an equivalent engine (such as the See Beyond e*Gate integration engine) which requires the same technical skill set for design, development and troubleshooting
+ Technical knowledge of Siemens current OPENLink integration engine is strongly preferred
+ Successful project management and implementation of a clinical bi-directional interface from a multi-hospital Hospital Information System (HIS) to one or more ancillary systems
+ The interface requirements must have included ADTs, Orders, Order Status Updates, Add-on Orders, Results and Charges
+ Lead or participated in the successful install or upgrade of an integration engine, to include risk analysis, testing, monitoring and evaluation of the anticipated outcomes
+ Authored or maintained technical documentation used for all phases of integration: analysis, design, development, unit testing, integrated testing, go-live support, change control and downtime procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
+ Excellent verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with business associates, vendors and Integration Team members
+ Excellent personal computer skills and proficiency using MicroSoft Office applications, internet and e-mail services
+ Fundamental knowledge of network architecture, servers, redundancy and clustering
+ Fundamental knowledge of database management, TCP/IP, SNA, FTP and messaging services
+ Proven, strong knowledge and skill set to support communication protocols and standards for HL7, X12 and XML
+ Proven, strong knowledge to create, modify and test message structures, events and connections
+ Proven, strong knowledge of batch processes and configurations to include polling, automation and scheduling
+ Proven, strong knowledge of real-time interface spooling, archiving, traces, connectivity, client / server client configuration, pseudo connections, routing, mapping, filtering, translations and error exception handling
+ Proven, strong knowledge to monitor integration engine performance, logs, databases, connections and disk usage
+ Proven track record to analyze and troubleshoot interface problems using on-line integration tools and utilities
+ Proven track record to successfully apply modifications to existing interfaces to enhance functionality or improve integrity
+ Proven track record to successfully perform integrated testing in production (live) environments when practical and move the applicable test environment interface components to the production (live) environment
+ Proven track record to ensure the test and training environments sustain a high level of synchronization and integrity with the production (live) environment
+ Ability and means to travel among CHS sites, including valid NYS drivers license
