As an IP Paralegal, you will execute patent administration processes (efficiently and with high quality) that support the patent (related) activities and Intellectual Property (IP) strategy of ASML.
Role and responsibilitiesIn this position, you will support the patent process with a core set of administrative tasks and responsibilities:
Cooperate with Patent Attorneys to manage the patent portfolio (e.g. conduct weekly routine meetings to plan upcoming filings, provide support, ensure deadlines are met).
Prepare Invention Review and Patent Maintenance Review meetings and process results.
Prepare patent filing documentation, file patent applications, ensuring formalities requirements are met.
Compare, check and enter data in an intellectual property (patent) management system.
Keep work instructions up to date.
Be knowledgeable in the field of patent procedures.
Communicate with national and international patent agents.
Education and experienceTo be successful in this position, it is important that you are a structured and strongly organized professional. You have a passion for quality, processes and cooperation with colleague IP Paralegals and Patent Attorneys. The ideal candidate will also have:
Completed Bachelor degree (HBO) in law, legal administration or related education field or equivalent higher education thinking level.
Minimum of 2 years of experience, resulting from working as a paralegal in the area of Intellectual Property, preferably patents (in a law firm or corporate setting).
Strong focus on accuracy, with a high level of attention for detail.
Able to work according to a strict set of procedures within the provided timelines under limited supervision.
Able to handle and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a calm and effective manner.
Team focused and an eye for team alignment.
Certified as Formalities Officer or having the drive to become certified.
SkillsHands-on experience with Intellectual Property Management System (IPMS).
Basic knowledge of / experience with IP processes.
Good interpersonal skills for communicating and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, MS Teams and Excel.
Proficient in English language (reading and writing).

Within ASML, the Technology sector is responsible for definition and development of products and technologies. Within the sector Technology, the Corporate Intellectual Property department is responsible to provide global intellectual property assistance to protect and support ASML’s business. In particular, the department is responsible to establish and maintain a portfolio of patent rights.
The position is based in Veldhoven and is part of a team with three Team Leads and multiple IP Paralegals in Veldhoven (NL), Wilton, San Jose and San Diego (US), and reports to the Manager CIP Support & Administration who reports to the SVP & Chief IP Counsel.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
