Summary This vacancy is for a GS - 0132 - 12, Intelligence Research Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, LANTAREA INTELLIGENCE DIVISION -2. Duty location Virginia Beach, VA. . Responsibilities You will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist and serves as an Intelligence Analyst and is responsible for researching and providing assessments of regional and worldwide issues impacting CG equities; providing tactically actionable intelligence support to Coast Guard operations with an emphasis on Maritime Law Enforcement (LE); and networking with similar units in the Coast Guard and the Intelligence Community (IC). Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Analyzes and categorizes large volumes of technical and sensitive intelligence and LE reporting to advise LANTAREA Commander, as well as District and Sector customers. Performs research and analysis of tactically actionable issues to provide intelligence guidance to Coast Guard units to minimize actual and potential problems. Devises and selects techniques for reports and briefings which represent complex politico-military, cultural or scientific considerations, to present the significant and abstract interrelationships of information which illustrate the possibilities of connection to CG interests and how it may impact mission operations Undertakes research on issues impacting service operations, such as identifying emerging threats to U.S. and allied interests. Offers professional advice and assistance to personnel within the Analysis Branch on the intelligence cycle and assigned specialty area, teaching techniques for combining all-source and multiple security domain information, as well as development of other products in support of the organization, field customers, other agencies and allied nations Requirements Conditions of Employment All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Preparing analyses to explain the implications of intelligence developments; Conducting law enforcement interviews to collect intelligence information; Preparing threat assessments, reports, and presentations detailing threat information, findings and recommendations; Interpreting regulations and policies to implement intelligence programs. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
