Are you passionate about technology and want to contribute to the development of cutting-edge intelligent transportation systems and software solutions? We are currently seeking a talented and motivated intern to join our IT team and help us improve the customer experience and enhance our operational efficiency.
As an intern with our IT team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a project related to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). You'll work alongside experienced professionals who are dedicated to helping you develop your skills and achieve your career goals while learning about ITS and the different systems ITS supports across our enterprise.
In this internship opportunity, you'll assist in the fleet-wide Automatic Stop Announcement (ASA) project within the realm of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Your primary objectives will include developing and documenting a procedure to measure audio levels on a bus and applying this procedure to all of TriMet's bus types. Additionally, you'll learn about ITxPT and how to use vendor provided tools to configure and adjust the PA amplifiers on the buses.

TriMet's Internships are excellent opportunities to build skills, gain experience, develop connections with industry professionals and develop work samples for a portfolio. Relevant experience is useful, but most important is a willingness and excitement to learn.
This Internship is performed in-person. Applicants must be available to work in-person in the Portland Metro region of Oregon.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.
Essential Functions
1) Attend meetings with business and IT users to help with gathering requirements
2) Document and test new software applications.
3) Develop applications (coding, programming).
4) Assist with researching/evaluating solutions to meet business and IT capabilities.
5) Work and collaborate within a team.
Position Requirements
Must be a current Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student within the last 12 months in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Grads who have completed their degrees in the past 12-month period will also be considered.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
We’re looking for candidates with a passion for public transit or service, and improving mobility for our riders in the Portland metro!
Selection Criteria
Type of Position / Grade / FLSA
Non-Exempt, Non-Union, Full-Time (40 hours/week), Temporary. Internships will run May/June through August/September.
Wage
Interns will be paid $21/hour
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected based at a minimum on the result of:
