Family Preservation Therapist
About Applewood Centers: Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment. Position Summary: Applewood Centers seeks a compassionate and highly motivated Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) to join our team as a Family Preservation Therapist. In this impactful role, you will provide intensive in-home and community-based counseling and support services to children (birth to 18 years) and their families referred by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). You will play a crucial role in helping families overcome challenges and strengthen their bonds, preventing out-of-home placements whenever possible. Responsibilities: + Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying risk factors and developing individualized treatment plans. + Provide in-home and community-based counseling services, including individual, family, and couples therapy. + Address a range of family dynamics, such as parenting skills, co-parenting issues, marital/relationship conflicts, and emotional regulation. + Assist families in improving communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. + Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and support during times of stress. + Advocate for clients and their families with various agencies (schools, courts, DCFS). + Connect families with community resources and support services. + Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services provided. + Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities. Qualifications: + Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy. + Current and valid LSW, LPC, or MFT license. + Prior experience providing mental health services to children and families in a home-based or community setting. + Experience working with families experiencing complex challenges, including trauma and poverty. + Training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) preferred. + Excellent communication, interpersonal, and assessment skills. + Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. + Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends as needed. + Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
