Summary About the Position: Serves as Technical Director, Integrative Cold Regions Science and Engineering, Office of the Technical Directors, Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, Engineer Research and Development Center. This position is being filled as an Interdisciplinary DB-05 (GS-15), which may be filled under any of the listed Job Family series. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities Serves as the senior expert for Integrative Cold Science and Engineering. Advises director and senior leadership on cold regions science, engineering, and arctic military operations. Identifies new areas of opportunity and construct approaches to obtaining new work and new customer. Performs research on engineering issues effecting the cold regions of the world. Builds and expands research and development portfolio through building of relationships with federal and non-federal agencies. Facilitates cross laboratory collaboration to develop proposals that enhance overall capabilities. Responsible for a program with national or international scope and impact. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-5 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
