Responsibilities You will perform a variety of professional tasks related to substance use disorder service planning, community referrals and consultations, and in-service training. You will collaborate with client to develop an individualized service plan, so client has a clear understanding of measurable goals and objectives to work towards. You will provide direct non-medical services using a wide variety of techniques for the resolution of personal, social, or environmental difficulties related to substance use disorders. Analyzes and evaluates the information obtained. You will Uses skills in individual, marital, family, and group counseling to assist clients in understanding, accepting, and alleviating their problems. You will promptly report any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. You will perform various administrative duties in support of services provided. Uses the designated case management system in accordance with policy to maintain client clinical record. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting screenings and assessments; providing therapeutic counseling, consultation services and education related to substance abuse disorders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Basic Requirements for Psychologist (0180): Successfully completion of a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations. AND Successful completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or successful completion all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology in an accredited educational institution. Basic Requirements for Social worker (0185): Successful completion of a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AND successful completion of a master's degree in social work with practicum. In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. OR Possession of a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percen Additional Information This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates: You must possess a State / U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an Independent Practitioner with one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). NOTE: A copy of your certificate MUST be submitted with your resume. Failure to provide the required documents will render you not eligible for consideration. You must possess a Substance Abuse Certification (Alcohol and Drug Counselor II, International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium Substance Abuse Counselor Certification, OR State equivalent) acquired through passing a proctored exam, from a state or nationally accredited certifying body is required. NOTE: A copy of your certificate MUST be submitted with your resume. Failure to provide the required documents will render you not eligible for consideration.
