Interferometer Technician - 2nd Shift

We are seeking an Interferometer Technician (2nd shift) in our Newtown, CT facility where we produce wafer tables for use in the semiconductor industry. Interferometer Technicians check flatness of in-process and final products in a cleanroom environment. Responsibilities encompass the setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of interferometers, as well as collaboration with engineers and scientists to optimize instrument performance.  Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday-Friday 3:00pm to 11:30pm.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Set up, calibrate, check out and operate the Interferometer Assist in defining and documenting the Interferometer operation tools and procedures Analyze applicable data to evaluate operations, processes and products Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to production Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications Confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve issues Maintain safe, clean, orderly and organized work areas Accurate and timely completion and organization of required paperwork  Perform all other duties, as assigned

Education & Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of experience in quality inspection or metrology Previous experience operating complex scientific instrumentation such as interferometers or microscopes Technical training a plus Experience with precision measuring equipment, clean room operations, interferometer equipment or optical CMMs highly desirable Experience with lapping equipment desirable Experience with precision measurement methods and systems Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and process procedures Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement Experience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)

Skills

Basic reading and math skills Good manual dexterity and fine motor skills – able to manipulate small components Clean and organized (will work in a clean room environment) Patient and conscientious Metrology: Must be skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging (inspection less than .0001 inches) and other electronic equipment Experience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives Related experience in high-precision R&D/manufacturing environment Hands-on individual with keen interest in position with varied tasks Goal oriented with a proven record of getting work done on time High mechanical and mathematical aptitude Experience with use of various measuring tools Experience with process improvement initiatives

Physical Requirements

Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 25 pounds, or lighter, repeatedly Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility Walking/standing a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
