Job Summary

 

The Interior Designer III will work as part of integrated design teams responsible for the design and delivery processes. This position is primarily responsible for collaborating on the design of complex projects from programming through construction administration on projects ranging in size and complexity, while providing hands-on supervision to design staff during all phases.  The Interior Designer III will manage the performance of interiors phases on multiple projects, partner with internal partner disciplines, vendors, and consultants as needed. This role will also occasionally interview in front of clients to win work.

The Interior Designer III may also serve in the role of project manager, depending on the scale and scope of projects, responsible for leading projects that align with client goals and parameters to deliver design excellence within budget and on schedule.

The Interior Designer III will take ownership for the delivery of assigned tasks and will be measured by the quality and completeness of the work and whether assigned tasks are performed within the allocated timeframe.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Lead in the development of design and technical documentation in various project phases, including the preparation of interior materials, palette and furniture specifications, space planning, interior architecture, and FF&EUtilize hand drawings, sketches and/or software to produce design deliverablesUtilize Autodesk Revit/BIM and other software to produce technical deliverablesDevelop project technical specifications and manage client standardsConduct site surveys and documenting existing conditionsPlan use and layout of space and coordinate interior systems (color, furniture, fixtures, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intentParticipate or lead design strategy, client review meetings and presentationsLead coordination efforts with internal/external teams and associated stakeholdersParticipate or lead contract administration dutiesConduct QA/QC on own projects and projects by other teamsServe as primary liaison contact with clients to bring projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfactionActively manage client budgets, schedules, and programs, project communications and documentation, and office administrative tasksAssists Team Lead on estimating fees, determining scope of work, and preparation of proposals and contractsMaintain a professional attitude, demeanor, and be accountableAssists Team Lead on developing Project Work Plans (schedule, budget, etc.) for project successManage interior design project phasesProvide mentoring to junior staff Qualifications

Skills & Proficiencies:

Highly proficient in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, 3D rendering and design software including Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign with the ability to effectively execute design and technical documentationAbility to appropriately select and accurately document specifications for furniture and materialsProficient in FF&E specifications, millwork detailing, material application and ergonomic standards for furnitureAbility to formulate FF&E budgetsProficient understanding of interior materials, codes and standards and how they are appliedProficient understanding of typical project delivery methods such as Design/Bid/Build, CM, Fast Track and Design/BuildProficient understanding of the documentation requirements associated with the development of conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction document packagesAbility to work independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere, across multiple offices, through a digital environmentAbility to lead and manage others on the interior design teamAbility to effectively manage multiple deadlines and prioritiesAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team settingExceptional communications skills including written, verbal, and presentationStrong client and time management skills

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design (CIDA accredited program preferred but not required)8+ years of related experienceNCIDQ or NCARB/AIA certification is requiredOther certifications, such as LEED AP or WELL AP, highly preferredHigh proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, 3D rendering and design software, including Lumion, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign Photoshop, and InDesignHigh proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)

 

Resulting Physical Qualifications:

Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Must have visual abilities of close vision, distance and color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
